Advice on administration via enteral tube
Current resources suggest that it is likely to be safe to administer the doxycycline dispersible tablets via enteral feeding tubes. Stop the enteral feed two hours before administration. Place the tablet in a 50mL enteral syringe and draw up 10-15mL of water. Allow tablet to dissolve, shaking to mix, then administer via enteral feeding tube. Flush the feeding tube with water before and after administration of the medication. A one hour break in feeding is required after the medication has been administered.
